Sounders U23 take points from Victoria during last regular season home match

Sounders U-23 faced off the Victoria Highlanders in a tough match where they had previously lost before. The outcome today was different, however, as the Sounders managed to come up with a 3-1-win courtesy of a brace from none other than Santiago Patino.

Dangerous as always, Cazz Warren in the 22nd minute goes flying down the left flank and drills a low driven cross across the 6-yard box where the Highlanders managed to deflect it to the top of the 18 where Jamael Cox comes crashing in and powers it home into the back of the net. The shot took a slight deflection but it didn’t matter as the Sounders then lead 1-0.

Cazz again being dangerous in the 23rd minute inside the box with only the keeper to beat but gets brought down in the penalty area as Highlanders goalkeeper brings him down making the ref signal for a penalty kick. Santiago Patino steps up to the plate and strikes it with power and pace giving the Highlanders keeper no chance to save it. Sounders lead 2-0.

In the 32nd minute, Highlanders Cam Hundal from deep crosses it to Mitch Popadynetz where Popadynetz brings it down and half-volleys his chance to far post beating the Sounders keeper Akili Kasim. Highlanders weren’t going down without a fight as they managed to bring the score 2-1 with Sounders still leading.

On a turnover in the 79th minute, Patino gets slipped in behind the Highlanders defense with only the keeper to beat and places it well in the bottom right corner giving him the Sounders third goal of the night. Sounders win 3-1.

Sounders end their season home game with a 3-1 win over the Victoria Highlanders and have 2 matches left on the road of the regular season. Sounders look to earn 3 more points on their next match at TSS Rovers on July 11th at 7 PM in a crucial match as the regular season comes to end.
